Pandanus

The Pandanus tree is actually more closely related to the grasses but it can tolerate lots of water and so is at home on the fringes of the floodplains.  Its spiky leaves and unique shape makes it an icon of the Top End, especially when lit by a spectacular sunset. Anywhere you find this tree is sure to be a wet area once the wet season returns.
