Rivers

Rivers are the "blood stream" for the systems as they transport water and nutrients to the floodplains and related habitats.  Especially the floods are vitally important in constructin ghte fertils plains fo the Top End and Kakadu.  They are also major corridors for the wildlife providing acess to other habitats and food resources.  The rivers of the Top End are steadily building new habitat and where they interact with the sea are slowly growing the land by depositing thier silt in these areas.
